UCD Global Change: Ecosystem Science & Policy 석사

UCD Global Change: Ecosystem Science & Policy는 생태계 과학과 환경정책을 연결하는 120학점 국제 공동 석사 과정입니다. 기후와 생물다양성 변화가 자연·관리 생태계에 미치는 영향을 과학적으로 분석하고, 그 결과를 정책과 지속가능한 생계 전략으로 전달하는 역량을 함께 기릅니다. UCD와 독일 Justus Liebig University Giessen의 수업, 연구방법 훈련, 전문 현장실습과 연구 프로젝트가 하나의 학업 흐름을 이룹니다.

Year 1 핵심 모듈군은 생태계 변화의 과학적 원리, 환경영향평가, 데이터 분석, 환경법과 정책 커뮤니케이션을 함께 다룹니다. UCD의 Autumn 수업에서 분석과 정책의 기초를 세우고, Summer에는 JLU 모듈을 포함한 생물다양성·자원경제·적응·모델링 분야로 범위를 넓힙니다. 공식 구조에서는 이 그룹에서 최소 13개 모듈을 이수합니다.

20학점 Work Placement (Global Change)는 최대 10주의 전문 현장실습으로, 환경 연구기관·정부기관·NGO·컨설팅 환경에서 과학적 분석과 정책 검토를 실제 과제에 연결합니다. 배정은 경쟁 절차를 거치며 자동으로 보장되지는 않습니다. 이어지는 Year 2 핵심 모듈인 30학점 Research Project (Global Change)에서는 관심 분야의 연구문제를 설정하고 자료를 수집·해석해 독립적인 연구 결과로 발전시킵니다.

과정을 마치면 글로벌 환경변화를 설명하는 생태계 과학을 이해하고, 최신 연구방법과 데이터 관리 도구를 활용해 환경 자료를 수집·분석·해석할 수 있습니다. 연구 결과를 정책 담당자와 다양한 독자에게 명확히 전달하고, 자연 및 관리 생태계의 적응·완화 정책을 검토하는 능력도 발전시킵니다. 현장실습과 연구 프로젝트를 통해 환경 업무를 계획하고 결과를 전문적으로 보고하는 경험을 쌓습니다.

졸업생은 정부기관, 국제기구, NGO, 환경 연구소와 컨설팅 기업에서 정책 자문, 과학 분석, 생태·환경 연구 관련 진로를 모색할 수 있습니다. 생태계 변화와 정책을 함께 이해하는 배경은 환경보호, 기후영향 분석, 생물다양성 보전, 자원관리 업무에 활용됩니다. 데이터 해석, 연구 설계와 소규모 논문 수행 경험은 환경과 생태 분야의 박사과정 등 후속 연구를 준비하는 기반이 됩니다.
